![]() ![]() ![]() In October 2004, Meade announced the new ETX-PE or Premier Edition. This coating improves light transmission by about 15%. Meade's UHTC (Ultra High Transmission Coating) treatment was first offered as an option on "EC" model telescopes (part of the "AT" bundle) in 2002. Not officially a new model but rather a package (which eventually became standard), the "AT" package included an ETX-EC telescope bundled with the #497 Autostar controller and a stronger "deluxe" #884 tripod. A "standard" #883 tripod was available as an optional accessory. ![]() An optional #497 Autostar package was offered and would replace the simple electric controls, turning the ETX-EC into a fully computerized "goto" telescope. In January 1999, Meade introduced the ETX-EC which included electronic control of both axis through a small hand-controller. Also included were tabletop tripod legs similar to the Questar. The original 1996 model, now referred to as the "RA" or "classic" model, had a clockwork mechanism to track movement of the earth with an equatorial wedge, but it cannot be retrofitted for computer control. The line has come to take advantage of " goto" telescope mount technology, making it very popular with amateur astronomers. The ETX started out as a 90 mm (3-1/2") Maksutov Cassegrain telescope (first produced in 1996) and took advantage of high volume mass production and simplified optical and parts construction to open a new market for a cheap alternative to the very expensive Questar 3-1/2 Maksutov Cassegrain The ETX "line" has been expanded to 105 mm, and 125 mm Maksutov Cassegrains and achromatic refracting telescopes in sizes of 60 mm and 70 mm, but these two models were later replaced by an 80 mm model. 2x Barlow Lens also included to double magnification - essentially like having 6 different eyepieces!īonus Autostar® Suite Astronomer Edition Software on DVD - with over 10,000 celestial objects displayed (Windows® PC only). The ETX ("Everybody's Telescope") is a line of smaller aperture telescopes (60mm to 125mm) made by Meade Instruments. Meade’s Polaris telescopes are perfect for the astronomer who wishes to manually observe and discover the night sky with ease.Īperture: 90mm Reflecting Telescope with f/10 Focal Lengthįeatures a stable Equatorial Mount with slow-motion controls, making it easy to track celestial objects as they move across the night sky.Ĭomes with (3) Eyepieces that provide low, medium and high powered magnification for viewing a wide range of objects (Moon, planets, or land). These telescopes deliver bright and clear images with the greatest detail and enables observation of the craters of the Moon, Saturn’s rings, and even Jupiter’s surface. The 70mm & 80mm models feature a smaller style while 90mm and above get a larger design. The Polaris Series telescopes come in a variety of apertures including 70mm, 80mm & 90mm refractors as well as 114mm, 127mm & 130mm reflectors. This bonus DVD will help you learn the night sky and displays more than 10,000 celestial objects including planets, stars, galaxies, and nebulae. When fully assembled, the Polaris 90mm weighs approximately 20 lbs.Įach Polaris telescope also comes with AutoStar® Suite Astronomer Edition Software on DVD. With the included accessories such as a Red-Dot Viewfinder, 2x Barlow Lens, and (3) Eyepieces that provide varying levels of magnification - this will give you versatility with short and long range distances, the Polaris 90mm comes complete with everything you need to view the wonders of the night sky the first time out. The stable Equatorial Mount includes slow-motion control cables that allow for easy and quick viewing across different directions. The Polaris 90mm Telescope has a 90mm aperture and focal length of 900mm (f/10).
